When it comes to landscaping and lawn care there are hundreds of topics and questions that pop up everyday.  We invite you to read our frequently asked questions below to help answer some of your questions.  For in-depth problems and professional help, just give us a call!

Do I really need to mulch every year?
Mulching on an annual basis is an excellent form of weed control for your beds.  It also is great for retaining moisture for your plantings as well as it just plain looks nice!

What mowing height should I use?
Mowing height should be 3".  This is extremely important.  This height will keep weeds to a minimum and make for a more healthy, vigorous lawn.

Can I use a weedeater to edge my walks?
Do not weedeat sidewalk edges.  Weedeating walk edges breaks the crabgrass barrier and will allow crabgrass and other weeds in the lawn to invade these areas.  This is why you will often see crabgrass growing profusely along walk edges.

Should I expect to never have weeds in my lawn if I have it treated for broadleaf weeds?
In a program like we offer, broadleaf weed control is applied in steps 2, 3, and 4.  Some weeds will germinate between applications.  If there are just a few, they will be treated on the next application.  However, if there are many, please call our office and they will be taken care of sooner.  Caution must be used, as too much weed control applied too closely together can actually harm a lawn.

I recently had my lawn treated with a 'pre-emergent' herbicide, can I seed my lawn?
The answer is "no", 99% of the time since the pre-emergent herbicide not only prevents crabgrass and other weed seeds from germinating, but also keeps desirable turfgrass seeds from germinating. There is one exception though. If the active ingredient in the pre-emergent herbicide is Siduron, over-seeding or reseeding can still be done.
